PERPEKTO pa rin ang defending champion San Beda matapos hatakin sa 14-0 ang kartada, 75-62 kahapon sa 95th NCAA men’s basketball tournament sa  Filoil Flying V Centre sa San Juan.

Pero, hindi agad nakuha ng Red Lions ang panalo, dahil nagparamdam ng pag-aalsa ang nakasagupang University of Perpetual Help System DALTA.

Kakaibang Altas ang nasaksihan kahapon kumpara nang ilampaso sila ng Red Lions sa first round.

Sa ikalawang pagkakataon sa tatlong laro, ang San Beda ay naghabol sa halftime, 31-33, nang makipagsabayan ang Perpetual Help hanggang sa payoff period, bago tuluyang kumalas ang Mendiola-based cagers at itatak ang 14th win.

Kaya sa kabila ng panalo, hindi kuntento si San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez.

“It was not really us that played today. I hope my players realize this. Mahirap talagang manalo kapag your feet is not in the ground right now. I’m always been telling my boys to be humble, play your game,” komento ni Fernandez.

“We cannot win a championship the way we played today. Hopefully, we will learn from this. We will be playing Letran next and I don’t know what will happen on Tuesday. It’s not a 46-point win but as long as we win, it all matters for me,” dagdag pa niya.
